Two pumps that look almost the same
Search for an XCMG ZL50GN hydraulic pump and you will find several part numbers, often on the same page, all described as "the" pump. Most of that confusion has one cause: an XCMG wheel loader such as the ZL50GN or LW500FN carries two separate gear pumps on the same pump drive. The working pump feeds the main control valve that moves the boom and bucket. The steering pump feeds the steering circuit only.
The two housings look alike, but the displacement is not the same. The working pump coded CBGJ3100 is a nominal 100 ml/r pump; the steering pump coded CBGJ2080H is a nominal 80 ml/r pump. They are not interchangeable. Even where one can be made to fit, a steering pump in the working position delivers less oil per revolution, so boom and bucket cycles slow down — and the buyer usually blames the new pump rather than the wrong one.
Part numbers confirmed in XCMG parts manuals
We only publish a part number when we have read it in an XCMG factory parts manual, with the assembly and figure position it belongs to. For these loaders that gives three numbers, and each one answers a different question. Watch the quantity as well: the LW550FN manual lists two working pumps per machine where the ZL50GN manual lists one, so ordering "one pump" for an LW550FN leaves the job half done.
- 804011395 — working pump (gear pump). ZL50GN parts manual, working pump assembly 252911952, figure position 1, one per machine.
- 803004104 — steering pump, maker code CBGJ2080H, interchange 5004629. Steering pump assembly 251808358, confirmed at the steering (not working) pump position in the ZL50GN parts manual.
- 803004063 — working pump, maker code CBGJ3100, interchange 5002033. LW550FN parts manual, working pump assembly 251808362, two per machine.
Why you will find more numbers online
Marketplace listings for a "ZL50GN hydraulic pump" routinely mix the working pump, the steering pump and pumps from other loader models into one title, and many paste long blocks of unrelated part numbers into the description to catch searches. That is where the impression of "four conflicting part numbers for one pump" comes from. When we checked those numbers against the factory manuals, three turned out to be the real, different parts listed above; at least one other widely listed number could not be confirmed in the parts manuals we checked, so we do not quote against it.
The same logic applies to other parts on these machines. On a ZL50GN, air, hydraulic and transmission filters follow the machine, but oil and fuel filters follow the engine — a ZL50GN built with a Weichai engine and one built with an SDEC engine take different filter numbers. Several "correct" numbers for one machine are often all real; they just belong to different builds.
How to tell which pump you are replacing
You do not need the parts book to tell the two pumps apart. The code cast or stamped on the pump body is the fastest check: in these CBG-type codes the last three digits give the nominal displacement in ml/r, so CBGJ3100 is the 100 ml/r working pump and CBGJ2080H the 80 ml/r steering pump. If the code is unreadable, follow the pressure hose: the working pump outlet runs to the main control valve that serves the boom and bucket, the steering pump outlet to the steering valve. For a quote, send:
- Photo of the code on the old pump body, plus the machine nameplate (model and serial number)
- Which position: working pump or steering pump
- Quantity — check whether your model carries one or two working pumps
- Destination port and whether the machine is down (air) or can wait (sea)
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I fit a steering pump in place of the working pump?
No. On these XCMG loaders the steering pump (CBGJ2080H, about 80 ml/r) has a smaller displacement than the working pump (CBGJ3100, about 100 ml/r). Used in the working position it would slow boom and bucket cycles, and the two are not interchangeable in either direction.
Is CBGJ3100 the same part as 803004063?
They describe the same pump from two sides. CBGJ3100 is the pump maker's model code; 803004063 is XCMG's part number for it, with 5002033 as the interchange number. The LW550FN parts manual lists it as the working pump, two per machine.
Does the ZL50GN working pump fit the LW300FN, LW500FN or LW600KN?
Do not assume it. We can source working pumps for all of these loaders, but the numbers above are confirmed per manual: 804011395 for the ZL50GN and 803004063 for the LW550FN. For other models, send the code on the old pump body or the machine serial number and we confirm the pump before quoting.
Why do different sellers quote different part numbers for the same ZL50GN pump?
Usually because they are quoting different pumps — working versus steering — or a pump from another loader model, and sometimes because the number was copied from a marketplace listing rather than a parts manual. Ask any seller which manual and figure position their number comes from.
